Johnny Incision ready for the Battle of the Bands at Mahtomedi HS

Beginnings. I’ve always loved music. Some of my earliest memories revolve around a small record player only large enough to play a 45rpm single. I’d listen to the songs over and over. For each and every gift, I always asked for music. Sure, I’d ask for a baseball glove, or a bicycle, but at the top of the list was an album or a 45 that I was dying to own.

Bands. I’ve always wanted to be a rock star. I sang along with my records. I idolized the singers that I heard on tv. In junior high school, my friends and I started a band. The problem was that we didn’t know how to play.

SwindleKings at Mario’s Kellar Bar

Songs. I started writing songs when I was 15 or 16, and then in 11th grade, I took a poetry class that helped me tap deeper into my creativity. I wrote more songs, and I was also writing pure poetry at this point.
